It's been just over 25 years since the downfall of the Dark Lord, and all is indeed well. The wizarding world is thriving, and two places in particular show the extent of the world's change.
HOGWARTS SCHOOL OF WITCHCRAFT & WIZARDRY.
Long considered one of the best wizarding schools in the world, Hogwarts' reputation has only gotten better, what with its host of famous, heroic alumni. Here students learn everything they'll need to know in the real world, just like any other teenager. However, between Quidditch matches, History of Magic essays, and Apparating lessons, one would imagine there wasn't enough time in the day to eat, much less screw around -- but don't be fooled. There's always a bit more to student life at Hogwarts than books and spells, as any alumnus will admit. Even if there's nothing going on in the outside world, there's always something going on inside this school's magic walls. And now that wizarding society has experienced a boom in prosperity and birthrates, Hogwarts is bigger and better than ever before.DIAGON ALLEY, LONDON.
The air smells like rotten eggs and gunpowder and candy; the streets are made with uneven cobblestones and plumes of smoke twist and curl overhead, dappling the brightly colored umbrellas that shade the numerous cafés. A buzz of excitement hovers in the atmosphere, as though you're walking through a highly successful party. Everything is strange and wonderful and vibrant, and immediately you realize that you've stepped right into the heart of everything magical; this is where it all comes together. In some ways, it's as if the war never touched it: The sturdy buildings and shop-owners and landlords look as though they've been there forever, immobile and unchanging. But don't let appearances fool you. From the monuments and plaques remembering fallen heroes to the landlady of The Leaky Cauldron, there is much more to Diagon Alley than first meets the eye.
