hey there ! i'm sophie bryan , secretary at FEARLESS studios. we're just gonna do a small interview to get to know you, mmkay ?
' Mhm, sure. Ask whatever you want.'
okay , so , please state your name before we start anything .
' Hah. Rea Avalon Gibson.
wow , that's a really interesting name. does it mean anything ?
' Mmm.. No. The only story I know about my name comes from my dad. My name isn't really very eventful; my parents just liked the names. But they always fought about stuff like this, so they each had to have their favorite names on my birth certificate. My dad liked Avalon because it was the street he grew up on and of course my mother liked the name Rea because it was her middle name. They also fought about who got my first name and my middle name; Mom won obviously haha.'
hmm , awesome . are there other names that you preferred to be called by ?
' Some friends call me Ree, or Ava. A lot of the kids I grew up with would put things like Rea of Sunshine as the name on their contact for me in their phone just because I was a smiler.. So it stuck.
okay then, Ree. before we start , i just want you to know that everything here is confidential , so don't be afraid to share things with me. now, describe yourself for me.
' I feel like I'm very easy-going and laid back. I love to just vegg out and just talk with my friends and take it easy, you know, enjoy what we have. All my friends claim I'm their little 'secret keeper'. I guess in a way their right, but I don't think of it as keeping secrets.. It's more just of people easily confiding in me.
I'm also a very fun-loving and adventurous person. One of my favorite thing that we used to to was whenever we got bored late night, and my friends were hungry, instead of using food in the kitchen we'd go joyriding and buy IN N OUT. My mom hated that. She always yelled at me when we would get back but it was so totally worth it. There's nothing better than just letting loose and having fun. I'm pretty outgoing, just one of those girls who doesn't care what anyone thinks. That's what you have got to do in this business though.. You know, a tough hide. Hmm.. Humble? Maybe I'm a little bit on the goofy side, especially when drunk. Oh, and I'm open minded.
Is it dumb that I'm saying this stuff? I feel conceded -laughter-.
is there anything about your personality that you don't like ?
' I really hate the fact that I have a tendency to be a little bit overly outgoing sometimes.. Plus I'm pretty into partying, to a point where it's hard for me to resist going out on Friday nights.. I really wish I could be more of a harsher person too you know? I don't like saying mean things about people, of course sometimes I do blow up but it's never without reason.. That's a pretty bad thing to me.
I am really protective over my friends, which gets me involved into others people business. Not a good thing either. '
you don't sound that bad , haha . now, do you mind telling me things about your past ? i'm curious .
' I'm California born, and have lived in Los Angelos my whole life. There wasn't a day when I wasn't at the beach or living up the seaside life. I grew up in this town called Hermosa Beach, which is like 20 minutes from LAX. My little brother and I always caused trouble around there and I have to say it was mostly my fault. I was never a good influence. I was into punk music and tons of bad stuff. I hung out at the beach all day and surfed and skated and hung out up in Venice with beach rats. I was being a teenager, but I grew out of it, especially since acting was calling my name. I took drama classes all throughout middle school and highschool. I loved it and devoted all my time to it. My singing voice was mediocre which lead me to be in the background for school musicals but school plays I got leads.
Then I was offered a modeling job and everything fell into place. It was almost like it was meant to be, to fix me up a little bit.
wow , interesting . now , who makes up your family ?
' My mom is Rea Susan Gibson and my dad is Michael Richard Gibson. My little brother is Riley Sloane Gibson. '
nice family you got . now , how did you get into the hollywood business ?
Like I said earlier I started out with simple drama classes. I played in musicals and plays when I was smaller because that was what my mom used to do. I started early with acting but it was just small time; local plays, school musicals, you know. I was always the baby of the family so my mother was very scared of pushing me into 'The Business' so she waited till I could do it myself.. It was pretty crazy, the whole idea of it. I started out just like everyone else; simple extras for Disney, small time films. For a year or so, I had stopped acting because of my parents' divorce and had gone from middle school and went to highschool. It was weird to go to a public school and have people say things like 'HEY weren't you on TV? On that one show?!' and to have them quiz me on stuff. I really didn't mind the attention, but I didn't really like it either, because I thought it would bring the wrong type of person around me. Untill around my junior year I finally decided to try and do acting as a career.
My big breaking point was when I got hired for a leading movie role.I was shocked, because there was so many pretty and seemingly talented people there and I really didn't expect to get the part but they just liked my personality. I was so excited to start filming a big feature film. I remember re-reading my script late at night, until I fell asleep because I was so scared of just forgetting my lines and getting fired. Apparently my method worked, because I'm still here today
-light laughter-.
I never even expected myself to get any big time roles. In fact, the last thing I expected was to be going to events, and to be.. well.. Famous. I remember watching the grammies and TV shows and being as drawn in as everyone else was, and wondering what it would be like to be those people on the silver screen. I was just a normal girl and then all of a sudden I was 'Rea Avalon GIbsonl,'. That was what made it unbelievable. It really didn't hit me for a year or so, until the paparazzi started taking pictures of me. Then I realized what was going on'
you must love your job , right ? i would love to do what you do . what interests you the most about it though?
' This sounds pretty ridiculous. But I love the hookups and the parties. You meant so many different kinds of people and it's great for your self-esteem and confidence to hear people saying your name from the window of their car. It's a crazy experience all together. The money is a plus too. I went from saving up for a crappy bronco to buying a 65' mustang with no worry.'
but it can't be that easy . there must be a few things that you hate about being famous ?
' This is kind of stupid of me too but.. I really hate people doing my make-up and hair. Like I have mixed feelings about it. It's just always a habit of mine to dislike the feeling of someone waiting on me. I feel guilty for it almost. Like they could probably be doing something more productive than making myself look good, but then I remember that's what they're hired for. '
interesting . do you look up to anyone for advice or anything ?
' I love Marilyn Monroe. She's amazing, I could never get enough of her. Did you know she was a size 14?! How great is that?'
aw , that's nice. now, list some things you enjoy doing on your spare time, if you have any .
' I just plain love to mess around. You know I'll sit with my friends and have movie night, or sometimes we just act like teenagers and drive around in our cars racing and rolling down all our windows to see who could attract the most attention first. Joyriding late nights are fun like that. I love parties, and just chillin'. Plus I can't help but love to surf because it brings me back to my California roots, you know, where I grew up. I also love to try new things, new restaurants, new shopping spots.. New stuff. I love to travel and I love to sometimes just veg. I'm just as crazy about fashion as any other model is, and unlike other models I love to eat. Don't expect me to turn away a good In N out burger just because they're pretty fattening. I love to go to shows, like rock shows and stuff like that, plus experiencing with music with friends. Like grabbing a guitar and testing out chords while a friend sings. I like to go to art galleries, no matter how geeky it seems. Before I wanted to be an actor I wanted to be an artist, I love to draw and sketch and stuff.
there must be some things that you hate as well , right?
'I reallyyy don't like shiny leggings. How horrible am I? I just dislike them, I may love the 80's, but the whole thing about my legs being wrapped in shiny sticky spandex isn't fun. I don't dislike people for wearing them, I just.. Will never wear them myself. I also really don't like flakey people. It's the biggest pet peeve ever to me. Other than that.. I can't really think of anything else..OH, I don't like energy drinks, they give me massive headaches. I also really don't like girls who can't stop talking about other people. It's another pet peeve.. ;
awkward question coming up , heh . how's your sex life ?
' Hahh, you know, it's funny you bring this up. I'm just going to throw this out there, but I'm not a slut, I swear. Everywhere I look I see people saying I'm promiscuous.. Which I'm not.. Really.'
so you're not a virgin?
' No, I'm not.
now, are you in a relationship with anyone?
' Nope, hah. I do have this crush on this guy though.
that's basically our interview, thanks Rea . but before you leave, is there anything else we should know?
' Just don't let it slip to much, but I think I have an alchohol problem.'
oh wow , that's one for the books. just kidding REA. we won't tell, promise. thanks for sitting down with us, and have fun working on your latest project !
' HAH, No thank you. It was entertaining.'

Rea always seemed to make a fool of herself when no one was around. Sometimes it was something she was very thankful for, because if the rest of the school knew Rea wasn't as composed as she always seemed then not only would she probably be teased about it but it'd be another thing for girls to point out when they were glaring at her from afar. She picked up her phone and stood up, brushing off her knees as she recollected what she tripped over. Looking back, she grunted. There was nothing there. Of course, to add to her own amusement, she had fallen over the misplacements of her own two feet. How could a dancer be so clumsy? She was thankful her sister wasn't there, since that would've been a big source of amusement for her. The girl had been wandering in the halls in a section that she never really visited. Sure, she wished she could play piano, or wield an instrument, but she learned to be happy with what talent she had. The brunette looked down at her paper, the locker number and code etched messily across the front. Rea grumbled, pushing back her long silky locks of dark brown. The whole reason Rea was in this situation was because she needed her history book from a friend, who in turn left it in their locker. Her ears caught an attractive noise, some kind of instrument. She couldn't help but be curious and creep towards the sound. Opening the doors to the Music Hall, her stunning baby blues found the source and stared in awe for a moment. Not because of his looks (well, partially because of his looks) but because of the twittering sound of the flute that stung the still air. Stepping forward, the girl tried to get a closer look to him as the last note descended and evaporated in the heavy atmosphere. Her hand reached out, resting against what she thought was a solid source. Of course, her luck being evident, she started to sway. As she looked over, she did her best to save the some of the music stands from clattering to the hard cold floor.. But this being a very unlucky day, the sound of metal against metal shattered the air. Rea swallowed heavily, looking from the fallen few music stands to the boy. She knew the acoustics were perfect in the room then, understanding how his notes had drifted.. The loud noise hung in the air much less eloquently than his music had. She reached down, doing her best to stand them back up. When she got the stands in a straight up position, she glanced over, her eyes staring, waiting to hear what he said. Her fingers nervously checked her outfit. One hand stiffly stuck in the pocket of her skinny dark denim Frankie B jeans and the other tugging at her chiffon cream colored strapless baby-doll top and her miniature worn leather bomber jacket. |
